Merry Christmas from the DuBose Family
This year has finally brought us back together as a family and added a new member. After 1 1/2 years, living between Provo and Seattle, Noah moved up to Seattle during Christmas break last year. Although it has been a challenge to fit all her stuff into our downtown apartment, she is loving that she is only a few blocks from the library, pretty shops and her work.
Speaking of her work, after many months of searching, she was finally able to find work at Expeditors. She has only been there for a few months, but she is enjoying being back in the workforce.
She saw the extended break from work as blessing in disguise because she was able to attend to her parents who came to visit Seattle for first few months of Spring. Her family had a great time living next door and exploring the Northwest. Noah and her sister, Marilyn, were very good tour guides. They went to just about every museum and attraction in city from the Pike Place Cheese Festival to Clamming in the Puget Sound.
Casey did not get to play tourist, but he was always happy to come home to try his mother-in-law’s tasty Chinese cooking.
Casey is one semester away from graduating law school and has had an enjoyable year. As the old law school addage goes, “The first year they scare you to death, the second year they work you to death, and the third year they bore you to death.” He found out that it is a pretty accurate statement.
During the summer Casey worked between two jobs as a copywriter and legal intern for a Seattle Family Law Firm, Goldberg Jones, and as a court reporter writing summaries of important cases everyday in Superior Court for Westlaw.
This Fall he has been working as a Law Clerk Extern to the Honorable John Coughenour in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington. These positions have been very interesting because they have taken him out of the classroom and into Court. He is enjoying putting his book-learning to work by writing documents for the Court.
He is looking for a position in aviation law in the city and has been able to go to a number of great aviation law related events of the last year. He attended the ABA Conference on Air and Space Law in Montreal. He also had the honor of being at speaker on developments in Aviation Law at the Pacific Northwest Aviation and Insurance Law Conference in Lake Chelan, WA.
This year also brought us a new hairy member of the family. Over the Forth of July holiday, we got a new dog. He is a mix between a Golden Retriever and Yellow Lab. We call him DuoDuo. He has been wonderful addition of energy and fun to our family and taking him on long walks has helped Casey lose over 30lbs since the beginning of the Summer.
Both of us have been active with various Chinese groups in town and often go to the NAAAP happy hours in Seattle. Noah is taking going to the Toastmasters Program. We are both busy with our Church as well. Casey is the Sunday School teacher and spent the year teaching the New Testament. Noah is in the youth program working with the Young Women.
The coming year should be great. Noah is exiting the training phases of her new job and will remain very busy at her work. Casey has one more semester of law school finish, the bar exam to pass, and employment to find. We hope between our busy schedule we’ll be able to have another wonderful year.
In the meantime, we have added a number of pictures below from the year. We will also be adding to the blog every month, so, we hope you come back soon.
